History

Twenty years ago Contempus was a pioneer in electronic document management systems. Today we are recognised as a market leader in advanced process automation solutions ñ the field that is usually called Enterprise Content Management. These are the key milestones in our history:

September 2008 Comtempus was acquired by Basware Corporation
In 2006, Contempus entered the North American market through its strategic collaboration with BancTec. Simultaneously, growth was strong in the United Kingdom due to a number of new customers and partners.
In 2005, Contempus solidified its position as a market leader in Norway.
In 2003, Contempus signed a strategic distributor agreement with Digital Vision. With this, the foundation was laid to prioritise the United Kingdom. There was also a great deal of growth in other, key European countries as well as in Sweden and Denmark.
In 2002 the goal of having 50,000 users in Europe was achieved.
In 2001, Contempus AS merged with Component Software Nordic and formed Component Software Group. The group became one of the foremost suppliers in Scandinavia within Business Intelligence and document management. Subsidiaries in Sweden and Denmark were established.
In 1998, Contempus.Invoice was introduced as the first standard product for electronic invoicing on the Norwegian market.
From 1990 to 1997 GPI DocNet grew to become a leading Norwegian supplier of solutions for document management and workflow.
In 1989, document management became its own key area of prioritisation in GPI. A separate division was established under the name GPI DocNet.
In 1976, GPI was established in Norway. The company rapidly became a leading IT supplier in Europe.
