September 3, 2008 – Leading Automotive group, Barloworld Automotive has deployed Contempus.Invoice, an advanced accounts automation solution, to optimise financial control in its Scandinavian operations and to automate processing of the 100,000 invoices it receives in the region each year.
Barloworld Automtoive, which operates the Avis and Budget car rental brands in Scandinavia, has deployed Contempus.Invoice at its head offices in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The solution ensures that all invoices received at each head office location are processed, approved and scheduled for payment consistently and automatically.
Contempus.Invoice replaces Barloworld’s previous manual processing system, and integrates with the company’s Agresso accounting software. As well as automating what was previously a labour-intensive process, key benefits of the Contempus solution are consistent processing and management, and quick, easy access to archived invoices across Barloworld’s’ Scandinavian operations.
Kofax scanning and data capture products are used at the head office in each country to upload invoice data into Contempus, which is then matched against purchase orders and supplier details for local payment authorisation. After approval, the invoice image and supporting details are sent from each office to the central Contempus server in Billingstad, near Oslo.
Harald Løvstad, Finance Manager for Avis in Norway said: “Even though we deployed Contempus just two months ago, it has already made a big impact. A large proportion of our invoice processing is now automated, and we have much better visibility of where each invoice is, and control over the payment cycle. With Contempus’ archiving functions, we can also find and review previous transactions quickly without searching through paper records, which cuts wasted time and improves productivity.
“The main focus for us is better management of the overall accounting process, but we also believe it will help to cut processing costs and further improve supplier relationships,” he added.

Barloworld’s future plans include integrating Contempus with order processing and requisition systems, to further automate financial management.
